Controversial statement: What you offer affects…everything.
If you know me, you know that I preach about product suite left right and center…aka what you offer, the pricing of it, and how it affects your growth.
My clients who audit their pricing and product suite with our tactics see:
- Less “being in the work”
- More confidence for what you charge
- More monthly recurring revenue (aka MRR)
- Less “no” on sales calls
- More freedom in what they do
Because let’s be honest…what you offer dictates your path. We need you feeling your best, feeling confident, and bringing in clients who honor your prices with a “hell yes” right?! I WANT you to see a future where you’re not stuck in the day to day. I WANT you to see a waitlist for your services. And all of that is possible.
Your 4 Step Checklist to ensure your product suite is working for you:
Are you properly tiering your services?
Do you have a signature offer? How can you create an elevated version with tons of bells and whistles for a big chunk of money? The idea here is 2-fold. If you want all the goods, then great! It costs you though. Also, you don’t have time to serve 100 VIP clients (otherwise they would be…standard…clients…right?). Also can you make a basic version of your signature offer? A nitty gritty overview, an audit call, a done-with-you option? This way you have a basic version for the price averse or 25% of your people, a standard option for 70% of your people, and a VIP option for 5%. Nobody can say no if there’s a service you offer made just for them.
Do you have a strong initial kickoff project?
I’ll make this simple. People don’t just buy a retainer. They need to trust you, they need to see your work, and typically that comes from a project. Spoiler: none of my clients sell their retainer services loudly to the public. Sell the PROJECT, wow them, and you’ll hear them say “how do I stay on with you?!?”
Are you utilizing psychological pricing?
Now I can’t give allllllll my tricks away (that’s reserved for The Do-ers and The Roundtable!) but I want you to ensure that your pricing is PRIMED for a yes. Aka is it memorable? Is it fair? and Is it aligned with the spending of your ideal consumer? Do market research here if you’re not quite sure.
Are you taking a stance with your pricing?
Ok I know, you have no idea what this means (and tha’s ok!). In short, your pricing tells the consumer what you want to do more of, less of, or what you as well as what you stand behind. For instance, at Dial Zero Marketing, we believe in SMS marketing (p.s. text 314-370-1209 for text marketing done RIGHT. you’ll see what we mean.) but our clients don’t see the benefit of SMS. Now, we could’ve offered Email Marketing for $4000 and SMS for $1500, but instead we now say Email is $5000 and SMS is $2000 but the 2 together if they book Email + SMS is $5500. Aka – they basically get SMS for free. This shows that my STANCE is to do them together, so much so that I’m willing to “lose money” for them to do SMS. Hope that makes sense?
The thing is, with all services, you want to follow our framework of Prep – Build – Scale – Minimize. Aka:
- Prep: Find beta clients
- Build: Sell a shit ton of services at a highly competitive price
- Scale: Expand offerings + hire team
- Minimize: Allow the team to takeover so you’re focused on your CEO role/responsibilities
